'DEPOSE' Booby Trap Cannon
I don't know what this is. It was given to me as a gift when I was a kid by my uncle. He collected all sorts of weird stuff and spun tall tales so I'm not sure where this originated but I was told it was found ina very old barn in Florida. I know it was used as a booby trap at one time. You tie a trip line to the part that hooks on to the hammer and when it is tripped, BOOM! It looks like it is hand made out of cast iron and my guess is that it is from the revolutionary war era. I thought it might be French because of the name? It is in good shape and would fire if packed, the spring still works and holds a lot of tension. The mechanism is freely moving throughout and is a breech load. I don't know what kind of ammo it would take. It says DEPOSE on the end by the hammer mechanism. Look at the pictures, I've uncluded a bunch so wait for them to load. Please then, tell me...
What is this? Who made it? How old is it? How much should I insure it for?
